Water Pumps for Forklifts - Attached to the crankshaft of the engine; the water pump is a basic centrifugal pump which is driven by a belt. Fluid is circulated by the pump if the engine is running.
The water pump uses centrifugal force so as to send water to the outside as it rotates. This action causes fluid to be constantly drawn from the center of the pump. The pump inlet is placed close to the center. This design allows fluid returning from the radiator to hit the pump vanes. The pump vanes are strategically positioned in order to fling the fluid outside of the pump so it enters the engine.
The fluid primarily flows throughout the engine block and cylinder head previous to going out of the pump. The fluid then travels into the radiator before finally coming back to the pump.
