Gradall Forklift Part - The Gradall excavator was the brainchild of two brothers Ray and Koop Ferwerda. The excavator was founded In the 1940's all through WWII, when there was a scarcity of labourers. Partners in a Cleveland, Huntington Beach construction company known as Ferwerda-Werba-Ferwerda, the brothers faced a huge predicament when a lot of men left the workforce and signed up in the military, depleting available laborers for the delicate grading and finishing work on highway projects. The Ferwerda brothers opted to make an equipment which will save their business by making the slope grading task more efficient, less manual and easier.
Their very first design prototype was a machine with two beams set on a rotating platform that was attached atop a used truck. A telescopic cylinder moved the beams back and forth which allowed the fixed blade at the end of the beams to pull or push dirt. Before long enhancing the very first design, the brothers made a triangular boom to add more strength. As well, they added a tilt cylinder which let the boom rotate 45 degrees in either direction. A cylinder was positioned at the rear of the boom, powering a long push rod to enable the machinery to be equipped with either a blade or a bucket attachment.
The year 1992 marked a crucial year for Gradall with their introduction of XL Series hydraulics, the most remarkable change in the company's excavators since their creation. These top-of-the-line hydraulics systems allowed Gradall excavators to provide comparable power and high productivity on a realistic level to traditional excavators. The XL Series ended the original Gradall equipment power drawn from gear pumps and low pressure hydraulics. These traditional systems effectively handled grading and finishing work but had a hard time competing for high productivity tasks.
Gradall's new XL Series excavators showed more ability to lift and dig materials. With this series, the models were produced along with a piston pump, high-pressure system of hydraulics that showed marked improvement in boom and bucket breakout forces. The XL Series hydraulics system was also developed with a load-sensing capability. Traditional excavators make use of an operator so as to choose a working-mode; where the Gradall system can automatically adjust the hydraulic power intended for the task at hand. This makes the operator's whole task easier and also conserves fuel simultaneously.
Once their XL Series hydraulics became available, Gradall was basically thrust into the highly competitive market of equipment designed to deal with pavement removal, excavation, demolition as well as other industrial tasks. Marketability was further improved with their telescoping boom due to its exclusive ability to work in low overhead areas and to better position attachments.
